Get 2017 health coverage. Health Insurance Marketplace
Dear Colleague:
November 1, 2016 kicks off the Health Insurance Marketplace open enrollment season!
Social Security is with people through life’s journey. This includes spreading awareness about the Health Insurance Marketplace atHealthCare.gov. Twenty million Americans have gained healthcare coverage through the marketplace. Today the uninsured rate is the lowest it has been in history.
Open enrollment for 2017 coverage runs from November 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017. To start the New Year with coverage you must enroll by December 15, 2016.
During open enrollment this year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services expects over 13 million people to secure a health plan through the marketplace. Most of those who already have a plan are satisfied with their coverage overall — with over 60 percent of enrollees describing their coverage as good, very good, or excellent. However, many eligible people continue to remain uninsured. Please help us make certain that everyone who may qualify for coverage knows about their options!
Social Security is securing today and tomorrow for millions, and we welcome opportunities to talk about our programs. Join the NAPABA Post-Practice Network and Retired Direct Member Category
This year, NAPABA will celebrate our 28th year as an organization. More and more of our earliest members are moving into a post-practice phase of life that some may refer to as “retirement.” In recognition of this, the NAPABA Board created a Post-Practice Network and Retired Direct Member category, whose goal is to develop, foster, and support a community of NAPABA members who are transitioning to or who have already transitioned to life beyond full-time legal work. NAPABA’s first president, Hoyt Zia, has agreed to initially co-chair the Network. AMERICAN PREMIERE In a rural village in northern China, a father/son
clash echoes the pull of tradition and modernization. When 20-year-old
Maofu returns home after migrant city work, he tries to convince his
aging beekeeping father Lao Yu to develop a brand for the family’s
honey. Lao Yu instead insists his son first learn the cherished
traditional apiary methods he’s practiced for 50 years. Diedie Weng
captures their standoff with intimacy, artfulness and unexpected humor.
Empire Mock Trial
is short on
volunteers – particularly on Sunday, Nov. 13. Attorneys volunteer
just a few hours of time to evaluate the students on the quality
of their legal arguments and trial advocacy skills. All
participating attorneys earn 3 free CLE credits. If there is a group which would like to judge a round together,

This will be the
nonprofit Empire’s tenth annual “World
Championship” mock trial program on November 12-13 at the federal
court in Brooklyn. Over 650 talented high school students
from across the globe are traveling to the Big Apple and they need
you to serve as their mock judges and jurors but real life
educators! By volunteering just a few hours of your time, you can
make a meaningful impact in these young people’s lives while
earning CLE credit in the process. It’s a win-win for everyone!
