Volunteer to Judge the 76th Annual National Moot Court Competition – Earn 2 CLE Credits!

The City Bar is seeking attorneys (admitted 2+ years, preferably with litigation experience) to judge the Regional Rounds of the 76th National Moot Court Competition on Wednesday, November 19 and Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the New York City Bar.

Seventeen teams from the NYC area will compete for two spots in the National Rounds, held in January 2026. All Regional Round Judges are invited to a celebratory reception on January 30.

This year’s case explores key issues around Fourth Amendment protections and qualified immunity.

Please complete the Judge Volunteer Form by November 10 indicating the date(s) and time(s) you wish to participate.

If you have any difficulty accessing the form, please e-mail sglazer@nycbar.org indicating the date(s) you are available to judge. Shortly after we receive your form, we will email you the Record on Appeal, the confidential Bench Memorandum and the round(s) you are assigned to.

AABANY Members: Join Directory of Neutrals from Underrepresented Communities

The New York City Bar Association ADR Committee and New York State Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section are committed to increasing the selection of ADR professionals from historically underrepresented communities. To promote this goal, the two groups are compiling a directory of association members who are ADR professionals and self-identify as a member of a historically underrepresented community including but not limited to: a person of color, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, as having a disability, or identify as a woman.

The directory is being built in partnership with the following bar associations (list in formation): The Asian American Bar Association of New York, The Caribbean Attorney Network, The Dominican Bar Association, The Hispanic National Bar Association, NY Chapter, The Macon B. Allen Black Bar Association, The Metropolitan Black Bar Association, The Puerto Rican Bar Association, and The Women’s Bar Association.

If you are a City Bar member, AABANY member, or member of any of the partnering bar associations, and self-identify as a member of a historically underrepresented community and wish to be included in the directory, please fill out the following survey on or before July 23, 2021.

Volunteer Opportunities to Help Victims of Hurricane Sandy

Please Volunteer for Pro Bono Efforts to Assist Hurricane Victims

The New York State Bar’s Lawyer Referral and Information Service is recruiting attorneys that can provide free telephone consultations to individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy. There is need for attorneys with insurance, landlord/tenant, co-op and condo, or FEMA appeals experience, as well as those who can handle general practice matters. 

We encourage attorneys outside the NYC area to volunteer. The program is set-up to assist victims via phone consultation.

Please respond as soon as possible if you can help hurricane victims in need.
