Deadline Extended: Extra Time to Finalize your Proposal

We understand how hectic schedules can be and you may not have had a chance to submit your proposal for the 2025 NAPABA Convention. That’s why we’ve extended the deadline to March 24 at 8:00 pm ET. This is your opportunity to fine tune and perfect your proposal.

Here’s a reminder for what we’re looking for:

GENERAL CLE PROGRAMMING

At NAPABA, we are committed to offering inclusive and innovative CLE programming that reflects the diverse experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds of our membership. Our general CLE programming aims to appeal to the broadest audience by covering a wide range of legal topics. We encourage proposals that bring fresh, relevant discussions to the forefront.

SPECIALTY PROGRAMMING

Our Specialty Programming takes you deeper into topics that will help you excel in your practice and career. With immersive and interactive learning opportunities, you’ll get to lead the conversation and provide members a session that goes beyond what may be possible during a general CLE session. Share your expertise in one of these tracks:

  • International Law Symposium – Explore global legal topics with diplomats, judges, and business leaders.
  • Young Lawyers Workshop – Tackle real-world career challenges and professional growth.
  • Solo & Small Firm Boot Camp – Get practical strategies for business development and firm expansion.
  • Law Student Workshop – Equip law students with essential skills for a successful legal career.

Ready to submit and help shape the future of the legal profession? View a successful proposal, download the guidelines, find FAQs, and more on our website.

AABANY Descends on Seattle for the NAPABA Convention

From Nov. 7 through 9, NAPABA held its National Convention in Seattle at the Hyatt Regency, for three days of programming, meetings, plenary sessions and the 36th Anniversary Gala capping things off on Saturday night.

AABANY members and friends once again came out in large numbers, with nearly 150 people signed up for AABANY’s WhatsApp group. The group’s members updated each other on programs they planned to attend, made lunch and dinner plans, and connected with each other about various receptions, parties and events around Seattle.

The AABANY Trial Reenactment Team presented its latest production, “AAPIs and Education: Tape v. Hurley and Gong Lum v. Rice” on Friday afternoon, Nov. 8, to a capacity audience. The program told the stories of Mamie Tape and Martha Lum and their efforts to fight discrimination in public education, through narration, reenactment of court proceedings and historic photographs. This was the sixteenth in a series of historic reenactments presented by the Asian American Bar Association of New York. For more information about AABANY’s trial reenactments, visit reenactments.aabany.org

We congratulate all the awardees and honorees recognized at the Convention, with special shout-outs to the following AABANY member honorees:

We also congratulate Sapna Palla, past AABANY President, and Anushree Bagrodia, current Co-Chair of AABANY’s In-House Counsel Committee, for joining the NAPABA Board as At-Large Members!

Thanks to all the outgoing NAPABA Board members for their service, and congratulations to AABANY member and past Board officer, Anna Mercado Clark, on her highly successful year as President.

We congratulate Muhammad Faridi, AABANY Member and President of the New York City Bar Association, on receiving the Pro Bono Service Award.

Thanks and congratulations to the many AABANY members who organized a panel or spoke at one. We know that it is not easy to get a program selected for the NAPABA Convention and that much hard work goes into putting on a quality program for the many attendees who come from across the continent to learn from you all. Please send us your photos and, if possible, a short recap about your program. You can send it to [email protected].

Many bonds were made and strengthened among AABANY attendees over the course of the Convention, and many new connections were made with the approximately 3400 registered attendees from across North America. Judging by many social media posts from those who attended, a great time was had by all. We hope everyone got back to New York City safe and sound, and we are looking forward to another inspiring NAPABA Convention when it moves to Denver, Colorado, Nov. 6-9, 2025.

AABANY’s Litigation, Prosecutors’ and Labor & Employment Committees Host Litigators’ Happy Hour at Three Monkeys

On June 21, 2022, the Litigation, Prosecutors’ and Labor & Employment Committees hosted a Litigators’ Happy Hour at the Three Monkeys. Conveniently located in Midtown, law clerks, litigators, prosecutors, and lawyers in various practice areas enthusiastically attended the event after work. A range of platters including buffalo chicken spring rolls, macaroni and cheese bites, and nachos were served for everyone to share. The night was filled with lively conversations among the attendees. Many expressed their continued excitement for more in-person programming and happy hours as part of the hosting committees’ efforts. Litigation Committee Co-Chair, Aakruti Vakharia, reminisced about this year’s Annual Dinner and even shared a few tips with other attendees as to how to stay stylish by securing a free personal shopper from nearby department stores. Others were celebrating successes on their cases, while new members and first-time attendees were welcomed by introducing them to AABANY’s extensive network.

The committees also discussed ideas for programming and events for the upcoming year. Thanks again to everyone who attended the first joint event of the fiscal year from the Litigation, Prosecutors’ and Labor & Employment Committees. We look forward to many more events to come, whether collectively or individually, from these committees. To learn more about the different committees, please visit the Litigation Committee here, the Prosecutors Committee here, and the Labor and Employment Committee here
