Nassau County Bar Association Diversity and Inclusion Committee Seeks Volunteers to Join Meredith Trial Reenactment

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) seeks volunteers to participate in a reenactment of the events surrounding the landmark decision that allowed James Meredith admission to The University of Mississippi in 1962. To read about the case go to: http://columbialawreview.org

The production will take place on the evening of Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Domus, home of NCBA, and will be followed by a complimentary Diversity Reception. The production requires 30 volunteers to serve as actors, in addition to 10 volunteers to assist in planning and preparation and on the night of the performance.

Those with speaking roles will attend 2-4 brief evening rehearsals prior to the performance, and ALL who participate and attend are eligible for Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias CLE credit.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to be an event sponsor, please contact Hon. Linda K. Mejias, Chair [email protected] or Hon. Maxine S. Broderick, Vice-Chair [email protected] for additional information.

Note: This reenactment was also presented during Black History Month at the New York City Bar in a production co-sponsored by AABANY. If you missed that performance, as an audience member or cast member, this is your chance to take part in a trial reenactment produced by Hon. Denny Chin and Kathy Hirata Chin.
