On Monday, June 16, AALFNY and AABANY held its annual Summer Reception at Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP. The Summer Reception featured networking over cocktails and hors d’ouevres followed by presentations of the AALFNY scholarships and JMB JIP internship stipends.
L. Lynnette Sarno, AALFNY President, spoke of AALFNY’s history and goals and presented the AALFNY Community Service Scholarship awards to Rebecca Arian, CUNY School of Law 2015 and Eva Yung, NYU Law School 2016. Lynette also presented the AALFNY/SABANY scholarship to Poojah Shah, Pace School of Law 2016. Congratulations to all the scholarship recipients; we hope to see them achieve great success in the future.
Linda Lin, Co-Chair of the Joint Minority Bar Judicial Internship Program (JMB JIP), spoke of JMB JIP’s history and goals and presented the JMB JIP stipends to eligible Judicial Interns. Clara Ohr, President of AABANY, spoke of the Don H. Liu Scholarship Fund for rising 1Ls, designed to seek out and cultivate future APA leaders in the legal profession. She hopes the scholarship fund will continue to help support future rising 1Ls in years to come. We hope to continue to have generous sponsors and donors that will allow AABANY and AALFNY to raise funds to support law students in their future endeavors in their legal careers.
