On August 27, AABANY hosted its first road show of the 2018-19 school year at Hofstra Law School with the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA) and South Asian American Law School Association (SALSA) at their first general meeting of the semester.
Executive Director Yang Chen, Board Director and Real Estate Committee Co-Chair Margaret Ling and Associate at Forchelli Deegan Terrana Jane Chen (and past Hofstra APALSA President) discussed how Asian Americans suffer from the model minority myth and are vastly underrepresented in positions of
influence, leadership, and power in the legal profession. They shared personal stories and provided insight about how AABANY can be a tremendous resource for Asian American students to develop the skills and contacts necessary to advance in the legal field.
Thanks to Hofstra Law School APALSA and SALSA for inviting us to present our road show and we hope to see more law students from Hofstra joining AABANY at future events, including the Fall Conference on Sept. 22 at Fordham Law School.
