On Wednesday, September 12, AABANY’s Monthly Pro Bono Clinic was held for the first at its new location, 3 Bowery, in Confucius Plaza. Thanks to the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of New York, our long-time community partner, for making this new space available to us. At this larger location at street level, we were able to present a Know-Your-Rights talk about labor and employment law, given by Pro Bono and Community Service Committee Co-Chair Karen Yau, at the beginning to a full room of community members who came to get free legal advice. We had a record number of nearly 50 people who dropped in to our monthly walk-in clinic. They were helped by the following volunteer attorneys:
- Kwok Kei Ng
- Youngjin Choi
- Yan Sin
- Sejal Singh
- Mihea Kim
- David Lu
- Jeffrey Mok
- Francis Chin
- Christopher Chin
In addition, the following volunteer interpreters provided translation assistance:
- Alva Lin
- Jessica Pan
- Teresa Wai Yee Yeung
- Zhixian Liu
- Karen Eng
- Wei Ling Huang
We thank all our volunteers for their assistance at the September pro bono clinic. Special thanks to Pro Bono and Community Service Committee Co-Chairs Pauline Yeung, Karen Kithan Yau, Ming Chu Lee, and Asako Aiba for organizing the monthly clinics and coordinating all the volunteers.
