Ascend Educational Fund Second Annual Gala, Mar. 14

The Ascend Educational Fund (AEF) is a New York City non-profit focused on providing college scholarships and mentorship to students of immigrant background, regardless of national origin, ethnicity, and immigration status. In our first two years, we have awarded nearly $100,000 to 16 outstanding students, representing countries including Bangladesh, Mexico, China, India, Guyana, Dominican Republic, South Korea, and Tibet.

We are holding our Second Annual Gala on Saturday, March 14 at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City. 100% of the profits from the Annual Gala will be awarded as college scholarships. The evening will feature a four-hour open bar, food stations, a keynote by Pulitzer-award winning journalist and filmmaker, Jose Antonio Vargas, multi-cultural performances, DJ, and a silent auction!

2015 KALCA College Internship Program: Applications Due March 27, 2015

The KALCA College Internship Program, now entering its 15th year, is a unique opportunity for college students and recent graduates of Korean and Asian American descent with demonstrated leadership potential to gain practical, hands-on exposure to government, politics and non-profit advocacy.

We will present the key findings of Making America Work, our report focusing on how Asian Americans contribute to the economy. The report includes a look at the impact of the Great Recession on the net worth of Asian Americans, the breadth of jobs and industries in which Asian Americans are major contributors, and the job creation and economic activity generated by Asian American-owned businesses. We also examine how Asian immigrants and low-wage workers play an important role in the economy. Lastly, we conclude with a number of recommendations to help Asian Americans overcome barriers to further success.

McGuireWoods LLP – NAPABA Law Foundation Internships

The McGuireWoods/NLF Internship Program supports students interested in the legal profession and will help students develop a commitment to advocacy on behalf of the Asian Pacific American community. The Program seeks to achieve these goals by providing undergraduate and law school students with meaningful internship experiences at the Washington, DC offices of NAPABA and NLF.

Central Regional Conference: Program Proposals Due March 1

The NAPABA Central Regional Conference is a unique opportunity for Midwest legal professionals to obtain CLE credits while building regional and national connections through networking. The Central Region is comprised of eight states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Members from other regions are more than welcome to attend the Central Regional Conference.

Program proposals are due March 1, 2015. Conference organizers welcome all CLE topics, but will give greater weight to those addressing marketing and business development, ethics and/or elimination of bias, and issues of particular interest to public sector lawyers, members of the judiciary, and in-house counsel.   Program proposal form

NAPABA Southeast Regional Conference: Program Proposals Due March 20

Hosted by the Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association (GOAABA), the NAPABA Southeast Regional Conference, Ignite Your Voice, will take place on June 12, 2015 in Orlando, FL.

GOAABA invites you to submit program proposals for break-out sessions by Friday, March 20, 2015. 

For program proposals, please provide the following information:

• Program Title
• Program Contact (name, email address, and phone number)
• Program Summary
• Length of Program (60 minute programs are preferred)
• Proposed Moderator and Speakers (name, email address, and phone number)
• Whether the program has already been previously pre-approved for CLE credits. If yes, how many credits were granted and whether any ethics credits were granted.

In addition to program proposals, we are also seeking recommendations for keynote speakers for the Lunch Plenary session.
