American Democracy & the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters – New York Law Journal feat. AABANY President Clara Ohr & AABANY Member Presiding Justice Randall T. Eng

The New York Law Journal’s May 1st issue, titled “American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters,” featured AABANY members Clara Ohr (Assistant General Counsel-Trading at Hess Corporation) and  Randall Eng (Presiding Justice, Appellate Division, Second Department).

AABANY President Clara Ohr’s article is entitled, “Helping Every Vote Get Cast,” on the importance of voter participation and how we as lawyers can safeguard the rights of all eligible voters. Randall Eng’s “Courts Play a Vital Role in Assuring Fairness” offers his perspective on the judiciary’s roles in New York. We thank Clara Ohr and Randall Eng for offering their well-informed opinions to shed light on different sides of voters’ rights issues.

Columbia APALSA Third Annual Conference: On the Shoulders of Giants

The Columbia Asian Pacific America Law Students Association invites you to attend their third annual conference: On the Shoulders of Giants: New Horizons for Asian Americans in Law and Politics.  The conference will be held on Saturday, March 8 starting at 1pm.  Attend one of three panels on Immigration Reform, Minority Identity, and Professional Development or attend dinner with keynote speaker former NYC Comptroller John Liu.  Among the speakers at the conference will be AABANY President Mike Huang, President-Elect Clara Ohr and Board Member Karen Lim, who will be joining Helen Wan (author, The Partner Track) and Vivia Chen (blogger, The Careerist) on a panel entitled “Navigating the Career Ladder: Professional Development Strategies for Asian American Attorneys.”

Clara Ohr to Perform at NY City Bar on Oct. 14

Those who attended AABANY’s APA Heritage Month celebration of APA women attorneys and the arts, co-sponsored with Dewey & LeBoeuf and the Asian American Arts Alliance, might recall that Board member Clara Ohr, besides being a terrific lawyer, is a classically-trained pianist. If you would like to catch her performing live, you should attend Friday Evening Chamber Music at New York City Bar on Friday night, October 14, starting at 6 pm.
