MinKwon Center’s Pro Bono DACA Renewal Clinics

Co-sponsored by the Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York (KALAGNY) and the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY)
Help protect undocumented youth from deportation by renewing their DACA status.  Pro bono attorneys and volunteer law students conduct intake, legal screenings for relief eligibility, and help undocumented individuals maintain their employment authorization and “deferred action” status.  No prior experience necessary, training will be provided.  Clinic dates are on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer. CLE credits will be provided.

Congratulations to Eve Guillergan!

AABANY member Eve Guillergan was among six distinguished women honored Saturday, April 5th, at New York City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer’s Annual Open House Celebrating Women’s History Month. 

She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serves on the board of the Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York. Eve received the award for her outstanding community work with bar associations, advocating for immigration reform and immigrants’ issues, and supporting non-profit social service and community agencies with legal services. 

Please join AABANY in congratulating Eve Guillergan on this well-deserved recognition.

IAKL 2014 Conference: Make Your Mark in NYC

KALAGNY will be hosting the 2014 International Association of Korean Lawyers’ Conference at Fordham University Law School from Oct 2-5, 2014.  In order to prepare for the 2014 conference, IAKL and KALAGNY have set up a Conference Host Committee that will focus on the logistics, planning and hosting of this conference.  If you are interested in joining the IAKL/KALAGNY Host committee, then you are cordially invited to the next Host Committee meeting which will be held at the office of DeVore & DeMarco on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. at the following location:

To participate, you must be a KALAGNY member in good standing. Bilingual Korean & English is preferred but not mandatory.

KALAGNY’s Central Park Bike Tour

Bicycle with KALAGNY Members, Friends and Family… 

KALAGNY is going biking in New York City’s Central Park on Saturday, November 2, 2013 starting at10 a.m. Come out and bike with us, then join us for lunch. Every participant must provide their own bicycle. Helmets will be required for participants who are 14 and under but everyone is strongly encouraged to wear one. KALAGNY will be celebrating its 27th Anniversary Gala Dinner this year on June 11 at the Harvard Club.

Prices currently are $300 for general public and $250 for KALAGNY members, and membership is not included, so $200 represents a substantial discount.
