2018 Han C. Choi Scholarship
NLF has partnered with the Choi Family to create the Han C. Choi Scholarship, to honor a NAPABA Trailblazer, mentor and leader, who embodies grit and courage in the face of great adversity. This scholarship is for a law student who will summer at a public service, civic, or non-profit organization or a corporation that is not a law firm.
Who Applies: Law students who have already secured a summer placement

Bereavement Notice – Han C. Choi
With great sadness, AABANY announces the passing of Han C. Choi on March 26, 2018. Known by many around the country as a leader, mentor, trailblazer and friend, Han was active in NAPABA and was the Managing Partner of the Atlanta office of Ballard Spahr LLP.
AABANY, together with KALAGNY and CAPABA, held a fundraiser on March 22, the proceeds of which were donated to the Han C. Choi Scholarship Fund, administered by the NAPABA Law Foundation.
As announced on the Ballard Spahr website:
A memorial service for Mr. Choi will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, 1328 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia. Han’s family has requested that memorial donations in his name be made to the NAPABA Law Foundation’s Han C. Choi Scholarship Fund, https://www.napabalawfoundation.org/foundation-scholarships, or the Decatur Education Foundation’s Han C. Choi Memorial Scholarship, https://decatureducationfoundation.org/han/.

Join us for NAPABA’s 2018 Lobby Day in Washington, DC, from May 7-8, 2018. This event is an opportunity for NAPABA members from across the country to meet and discuss with members of Congress and congressional staffers about important issues for the Asian Pacific American and legal community.
Participants will meet with legislators and voice their perspectives on a range of topics. As a participant, NAPABA provides all training and materials you need to meet with legislators on Capitol Hill.
In 2018, a few key issues Lobby Day will showcase are:
- Protecting the Legal Services Corporation
- Continuing the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program
- Supporting the Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2018
- Honoring Chinese American Veterans of World War II
Congressional Reception
In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May, NAPABA will host a Congressional Reception. The reception will bring together Lobby Day participants, members of Congress and their staff, and leaders in the Asian Pacific American community. This event is open to the public, including NAPABA members who are unable to participate in Lobby Day.
