2018 Han C. Choi Scholarship
NLF has partnered with the Choi Family to create the Han C. Choi Scholarship, to honor a NAPABA Trailblazer, mentor and leader, who embodies grit and courage in the face of great adversity. This scholarship is for a law student who will summer at a public service, civic, or non-profit organization or a corporation that is not a law firm.
Who Applies: Law students who have already secured a summer placement

Infinity Law Group Asian Heritage Law School Scholarship
The Asian Heritage Scholarship is open to students who will be attending an accredited US Law School in the fall of 2018 and meet all needed requirements. Candidates are asked to write a short essay describing how their background and experiences in the Asian American community influenced their choice to go to law school and how they plan to use their degree to help give back to their community.

What are DRS Diversity Scholarships?
Beginning in 2017, the Dispute Resolution Section of the NY State Bar Association (“DRS”) will award a maximum of 5 mediation training scholarships and 5 arbitration training scholarships each year, to encourage greater opportunities for minorities and women in the field of dispute resolution.
What do DRS Diversity Scholarship Recipients Receive?
The scholarships give recipients the following benefits:
- Enrollment at no charge in either (1) three-day Mediation Training offered annually by DRS and the Supreme Court, NY County/Nassau County, or, subject to DRS approval, other mediation training offered outside the NY Metropolitan Area) or (2) the three-day Arbitration Training offered annually by DRS and the American Arbitration Association
- Free one-year membership in the DRS (and the NY State Bar Association if recipient is not a member), entitling recipients to a host of benefits including
- Opportunity to join and become active in one or more Section committees
- Discounted registration fees for DRS programs and events
- Receiving the DRS publication “The Dispute Resolution Lawyer;”
- Guidance and advice from an experienced neutral to be assigned to the recipient
Who is Eligible for the Scholarships?
Anyone admitted to the bar in New York may apply for the scholarships, although preference will be given to minority and female applicants.

National Asian Pacific American Pre-Law Conference | Friday, Nov. 4 | 12–5 p.m.
The National Asian Pacific American Pre-Law Conference offers prospective law students the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the law school admissions process and the legal profession. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with current law students, admissions professionals, and attorneys in various practice areas. For more information on the pre-law conference and to register, please visit our website. Registration for the conference is free and will close on Oct. 21.
NAPABA is also offering scholarships to pre-law attendees to defray the cost of travel and lodging. Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and interest in attending the conference. Application for the scholarship is available on our website and will close on Oct. 31.
NAPALSA Conference | Nov. 3–6
Since 2002, the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (NAPALSA) Conference occurs in conjunction with the NAPABA Convention. Law students have the opportunity to attend workshops and events specifically catered to law students, as well as workshops and events at the general NAPABA Convention. The partnership gives law students the opportunity to develop skills as law students, future attorneys, and the chance network with and learn from current attorney from various sectors. Each year, the DBA awards individual scholarships to eligible law students who demonstrate community involvement, academic promise and financial need. Rising 1L’s, 2L’s, 3L’s and 4LE’s matriculated in an ABA accredited law school may apply to receive a $3,000 scholarship.

Japanese American Bar Association Scholarships: Applications Due Jan. 18
The Japanese American Bar Association Educational Foundation is currently accepting applications for the five law student scholarships offered this year through the Foundation and its wonderful sponsors. The deadline to apply is Sunday, January 18, 2015.
For this cycle, JABA Educational Foundation will award five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each, including the inaugural M. Dick Osumi Civil Rights and Public Interest Scholarship to a law student who is interested in pursuing a career in public interest law, civil rights law, and/or public policy.
