On June 6, AABANY hosted a table for the 11th Anniversary of the Caren Aronowitz Diversity Committee Unity in Diversity Program at 60 Centre Street. The event was presented by the Cultural Diversity Committee and the Gender Fairness Committee of the Supreme Court, Civil Branch, New York County, and the New York County Clerk’s office. AABANY’s table was manned by Executive Director Yang Chen, Program Associate Simone Nguyen, and Summer Intern Jules Shackman. To the crowd’s delight, patriotic bagpipes, songs, and a heartfelt remembrance of Caren Aronowitz kicked off the event with ethnic food to follow. AABANY brought food from Nom Wah Tea Parlor (a huge hit!) and took note to order more shrimp rice rolls for next year. Judge Doris Ling-Cohan dropped by with her interns for the first meal from the AABANY table. Simone commandeered the table to serve food, taking special note to spare the AABANY table cover of any casualties but to no avail; the soy sauce was as strong as it was delicious. Thank you to everyone for coming to the event! We were happy to serve you!
