On October 2, 2013, AABANY members and friends attended Fall Style Series, Part II: Women’s Suiting 101, at the Madison Avenue showroom of Gurjot New York, the first collection ever designed for businesswomen, by a businesswoman.

Founder and CEO Gurjot Sidhu, a former management consultant turned FIT-trained fashion designer, led an engaging and informative talk on how a woman’s choices in clothing and accessories send important messages about who she is. Gurjot discussed how to define and promote one’s personal brand through dress and shared intriguing insights about the differences in how the fashion world approaches women’s suiting and men’s suiting. She also provided tips on how to properly gauge the quality, fit and construction of women’s suits and separates.

The talk was followed by an exciting fashion show featuring AABANY members as models, who helped demonstrate the points above and introduce Gurjot New York’s Ready-to-Wear collection. The evening concluded with cocktails, shopping and networking. Attendees found the event to be educational and enjoyable, and expressed interest in future programs on personal style and branding.

The Fall Style Series is co-sponsored by the AABANY Women’s, Young Lawyers’, Student Outreach, Membership, and Career Placement Committees. The series concludes with Part III: Men’s Suiting 101, which takes places this Thursday, October 10.
