AABANY Hosts Annual Holiday Party at Sugar Mouse

On Friday, December 6, 2024, AABANY hosted its Annual Holiday Party at Sugar Mouse, a social club located in the East Village. Registration reached capacity within just a few weeks of opening, a clear indication of AABANY members’ excitement for this event. In total, the party had over 70 attendees, arriving as early as 6:30pm and staying well into the night.

Participants enjoyed an open bar as well as a variety of food, including burgers, pizza, and mozzarella sticks. Members networked with one another, discussing their backgrounds, careers, and professional experiences, reconnecting with old friends while also introducing themselves to new faces. Those not eating or networking enjoyed the venue’s pool, ping pong, and foosball tables.

Thank you to Steno for sponsoring and supporting this event.

During the night Beatrice Leong, Co-Chair of AABANY’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee, thanked everyone for attending and asked them to donate to AABANY’s Pro Bono Clinic by pledging a desired amount via text or by scanning a QR code projected on the venue’s walls. AABANY’s Pro Bono Clinic has won a number of awards over the years, and meets once a month in Manhattan and on a bi-monthly basis in Queens and Brooklyn. Even though volunteers donate their time, running these clinic’s costs money and donations to support this initiatives are always welcome. If you are interested in donating to the Pro Bono Clinic you can still do so by clicking here.

We appreciate everyone who attended and made it such a lively and exciting experience. To view all the photos from this event, please click here

We wish everyone a happy holiday season and hope to see you at upcoming events in the New Year!

AABANY Hosts Annual Holiday Party at Sour Mouse

On December 14, AABANY hosted its Annual Holiday Party at Sour Mouse, a social club on the Lower East Side. The event was organized by Beatrice Leong, Co-VP of Programs and Operations. The event was filled to capacity within days of registration opening, and the actual location was not disclosed until the morning of the event. Many attendees expressed pleasant surprise that the party was held at Sour Mouse rather than a law firm.

Nearly 80 AABANY members filled a large section of the venue reserved for us. Guests enjoyed bar food (pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks) and an open bar. We had a live DJ and an artist sketching portraits of our guests in real-time on the spot. Those not drinking, eating, or mingling got to shoot pool and reveal their hidden pool shark (or not). We also had a business card raffle, and the winners got a bottle of Jameson and a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Sour Mouse to celebrate the holidays with us. AABANY wishes you all a happy holiday season!

AABANY Hosts 2020 Holiday Party on Remo

On Thursday, December 10th, AABANY held its annual Holiday Party on Remo. The Remo event room was decorated with a holiday theme, including holiday character-themed table names and a crackling fireplace in the background. More than 30 AABANY members signed on to Remo to celebrate the holiday season.

To kick off the celebration, President Sapna Palla thanked everyone for coming and wished everyone happy holidays. She also took the opportunity to encourage everyone to join AABANY’s Virtual Gala being held on February 24, 2021 to recognize our Virtual Gala award honorees, Frank H. Wu, President of Queens College, City University of New York, and Sneha Desai, Deputy General Counsel of BASF.

Throughout the night, guests were able to move from table to table and talk with different people. Many guests enjoyed the optional Holiday Wine & Cheese Gift Basket or Hot Chocolate & Treats Gift Basket they ordered through AABANY.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to join us virtually to celebrate the season. AABANY wishes everyone happy holidays!

AABANY Hosts 2019 Holiday Party at rent24

On Friday, December 13, AABANY held its Annual Holiday Party once again at rent24, the site of last year’s holiday party. The venue, near Bryant Park, serves as a co-working space during the day. Over 100 AABANY members and their guests took over rent24 on Friday night to celebrate the holiday season. We enjoyed a variety of Korean dishes plus sushi and sashimi. A well-stocked bar staffed by two bartenders kept the drinks flowing. Many AABANY Board Officers and Directors were in attendance, along with several Committee Co-Chairs.

Pro Bono Committee Co-Chair Karen Yau addressed the attendees to ask for donations to the Pro Bono Clinic. Karen thanked her fellow Co-Chairs and Pro Bono Clinic supporters for all they have done to make a positive difference in the lives of many low-income Asian American New Yorkers who were in need of quality legal services but were barred by cultural, linguistic or financial barriers. Karen encouraged attendees to text-to-donate via a Give Lively account set up by AALFNY, the 501(c)(3) affiliate of AABANY. We projected on a wall the Give Lively site showing progress of donations. By the end of the party, we were able to raise another $900 to exceed $2500 in donations, reaching the 10% mark of our $25,000 goal.

We thank all the donors for their generous donations, and we encourage everyone to continue giving between now and the end of February. We are aiming to reach our goal by the time of the 2020 Annual Dinner. You can give now by sending a text to 44321 with the word “APAPROBONO.” Please help us reach our goal during this season of giving.

Thanks also to our volunteers, Bryan Cheah and Grace Kang, our intern, Jessie Rong, and our Administrative Assistant, Margaret Langston, for all their assistance to make the party a success. And, of course, thanks to all our members for your support of AABANY, its mission
and our community in 2019.

Happy holidays, everyone!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the AABANY Holiday Party on Dec. 6 at Kristalbelli. Many members and friends gathered to kick off the holiday season, filling up nearly the entire space on the second floor. We kicked off the AABANY drive to 1,000 paid members campaign and collected donations for Typhoon Haiyan Relief. Donors received free tickets to the Joint Bar Holiday Party taking place that same night at Copacabana. They also had their business cards entered in a raffle drawing for two All-Access tickets to a Nets game at the Barclay Center in January. The prize was donated by our party sponsor, Hudson Court Reporting. Thanks to Hudson for sponsoring!  The Holiday Party ended around 9 pm and a number of the attendees headed over to the Joint Bar Holiday Party at the Copacabana, not letting the rain get in the way of continuing the holiday celebrations.

We wish everyone a happy holiday season!
