On Friday, December 9, many AABANY members and friends gathered at Dave & Buster’s Times Square for the 2016 holiday party. The first 50 members who arrived were eligible to receive a drink ticket, good for one beverage, and a Power Card that included unlimited play all night long on many video games.

Attendees feasted on sliders, quesadillas, ribs, wings and other delicious fare. We had the entire Empire Room to ourselves, with rows of tables and chairs for us to sit down and eat. It felt a bit like a high school cafeteria, except that we could order beer.

June Lee, Pro Bono Committee co-chair, joined us, and her co-chair Sam Lui and Government Service and Public Interest Committee co-chair Anita Wu took the opportunity to give her a farewell gift, an engraved pen from Tiffany’s, for all the great work she did as Pro Bono Committee co-chair. June will be relocating out of New York City soon, and we will all miss her.

After people had enough to eat and drink they made their way to the games area, and the kids inside all of our lawyers lost no time in revealing themselves. Quite a few of our members were drawn to the shooting games. Hmmm … maybe there was some pent-up rage and stress that needed to be relieved.

We had the Empire Room only until 8:30 pm but many of the attendees stayed well past that time in the games area and made full use of their Power Cards. Everyone who got one could keep it and use it on their next visit to Dave & Buster’s (but no more freebies).

The general consensus seemed to be that Dave & Buster’s was a good choice. Perhaps we will have another future outing there. Stay tuned.

Thanks to everyone who came, and happy holidays to all our members and friends!
