From NAPABA: NATIONAL ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN PRE-LAW CONFERENCE — NOV. 9

NAPABA encourages prospective law students to register for the National Asian Pacific American Pre-Law Conference hosted by NAPABA. The Conference will be held on Saturday, November 9, during the Annual Convention and is open to all prospective law students regardless of age, race, background, goals, and experience. The Conference welcomes Annual Convention attendees’ family members, and any other prospective law students who may have an interest in learning more about law school and a JD degree. There is no cost to attend but registration is required. Interested prospective students can learn more on the Convention website and register by clicking here. Limited travel stipends are available to participants traveling from outside the area. Apply for a stipend before October 11 by clicking here.

2013 NLF Scholarships

The NAPABA Law Foundation is pleased to announce its 2013 NLF Scholarships, which are available to law students pursuing a Juris Doctor (non LL.M) degree in an accredited law school in the U.S.  Part-time students are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the NLF guidelines for application.  Scholarship opportunities include:

SABA-DC 2013 Public Interest Fellowship

The South Asian Bar Association of Washington DC (SABA-DC) is proud to announce our 2013 Public Interest Fellowship. The primary purpose of the fellowship is to help fund one or more law students’ summer internships with a public interest organization for the benefit of the South Asian community and the metropolitan D.C. area. We have previously awarded fellowships ranging from $1000 – $5000.

SABA-DC strives to promote the professional development of South Asian lawyers and law students, educate the South Asian community about relevant legal issues, expand and enhance business and professional opportunities for South Asians, increase the participation of South Asians in civic affairs and government, facilitate the exchange of ideas and information to South Asians, and foster goodwill, fellowship, and unity among the South Asian community.

The Association of Black Women Attorneys, Inc. Scholarship Program 

The Association of Black Women Attorneys, Inc. Scholarship program was organized in 1995.

They have awarded over $30,000 in scholarships since 1995. 

Criteria:            

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

* demonstrated community service;

* personal financial need; and

* current enrollment as a full-time student

at an accredited law school in Connecticut, New Jersey or New York. 

Academic performance is NOT the deciding factor.

Recommendations and personal statements should reflect community service activities.

The recommendations must be attached to the application.

No faxes will be accepted.
