On March 15, AABANY co-sponsored with SABANY a CLE program entitled “#MeToo and Harassment in the Workplace: A Roundtable Discussion” at the EEOC’s offices on Whitehall Street. The panelists included:

  • Hon. Shira Scheindlin, former United States District Court Judge, SDNY, and currently an arbitrator, mediator, and special master;
  • Michelle Goldstein, SVP, Deputy General Counsel at Time, Inc.;
  • Maureen McLoughlin, Partner, Davis & Gilbert, Litigation and Labor & Employment Practice Groups;
  • Rosalind Fink, Head of Employment Practice at Brill & Meisel.

Moderated by Nirupama Hegde, Employment Law Counsel at NBCUniversal Media, the program covered topics such as how sexual harassment claims in the workplace are brought, how the #MeToo movement has changed sexual harassment claims in the workplace, how sexual harassment claims are changing the way companies do business and what are some best practices to help businesses and lawyers navigate the new landscape.

AABANY’s Issues Committee, Women’s Committee and Labor & Employment Law Committee co-sponsored. Attendees were eligible to receive 1.5 credits in the new diversity & inclusion and elimination of bias requirement.

Thanks to all the panelists for an informative and topical discussion. Thanks to SABANY for organizing the panel and AABANY’s co-sponsoring committees for their participation. Thanks also to the EEOC for hosting the event.
