AABANY IP Committee’s “In-House IP Careers” Event Recap
On June 6, 2013, the Intellectual Property Committee kicked off its summer programming with “In-House IP Careers,” hosted by Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C. The evening featured a distinguished and diverse panel of in-house IP counsel: Vernon Chu (General Counsel, BBC Worldwide Americas), Amin Kassam (Counsel, Bloomberg L.P.), Caren Khoo (Assistant General Counsel, Verizon), and Anwesa Paul (Privacy Counsel, American Express). Mavis Fowler-Williams (Lecturer, Columbia Law School and Principal, Intellectual Property and Technology Law in the 21st Century) moderated the discussion and also shared her experiences from being in-house at Johnson & Johnson and Toys ‘R Us. The panelists shared the steps they took to identify and secure their in-house positions, offered advice as to the appropriate time to make the move in-house, and highlighted tips for succeeding once in-house. After an engaging discussion, the panelists and attendees networked over light refreshments.
