On Dec. 9, AABANY’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee launched its Monthly Pro Bono Legal Clinic at the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) in the heart of Chinatown. This clinic will take place on the second Wednesdays of each month and is designed to provide free legal advice to members of the Asian American community. Those in need of legal advice make appointments with the CCBA. Volunteer attorneys from AABANY then meet with them between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
In the photo are, from left to right, Pro Bono Committee Co-Chairs Sam Lui and June Lee. Next to them is Yim Chan, CCBA staff member. Sam met with clients seeking legal advice while June and Yim helped check in clients and assign them slots to speak with volunteer attorneys. AABANY thanks Kevin Medrano and Tiffany Tsai for volunteering at our inaugural Pro Bono Legal Clinic.
The next clinic is scheduled for Wednesday, January 13. If you would like more information, go to http://www.aabany.org/events/event_details.asp?id=747552&group=
We can always use more volunteers. Or if you know of community members that might be in need of the AABANY Pro Bono Legal Clinic, feel free to pass along the details to them.
Thanks to the Pro Bono and Community Service Committee for making this clinic possible, and thanks to CCBA for hosting.
