On Wednesday, February 28, 2018, the Asian American Bar Association of New York hosted its Annual Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street. Our 2018 Annual Dinner drew more than 700 attorneys, judges, supporters and other business and community leaders. It is one of the signature events of the Asian Pacific American legal community. The theme for 2018 is Serving Our Community, Advancing Our Profession.

AABANY is one of the most prominent and active minority bar associations in New York with more than 1,000 members, including practicing attorneys in the private and public sectors, in-house lawyers, judges, professors and law students.

This year, AABANY honored the following individuals at the Annual Dinner:

  • Alphonso David, Counsel to the Governor, State of New York, Public Service Award;
  • Kathy Hirata Chin, Senior Counsel, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, Women’s Leadership Award;
  • Mark Steffensen, SEVP & General Counsel, HSBC North America Holdings Inc., Corporate Leadership Award; and
  • Hon. Goodwin Liu, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of California, Impact Award.

The Law Firm Diversity Award was presented to Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. The Don H. Liu Scholarship Program awarded its 2018 scholarships to Tenzin Woedbum GGT, American University Washington College of Law; Andrew Yu, Fordham University School of Law; and Yuna Park, Columbia Law School.
