On Tuesday, May 1, the Tax Committee held its quarterly Tax Club Dinner at Tang Pavilion on West 55th St. Led by Shu-Ping Shen, Partner at McDermott Will & Emery, the group gathered to discuss trusts and estates tax issues, with special attention given to different gift and estate tax rules that apply to non-citizen spouses and other foreign relatives.  There was also a lively discussion about the gift tax consequences of giving an engagement ring (if it is worth more than the $15,000 annual exclusion).

Thanks to Committee Member Libin Zhang for the write-up and Committee Co-Chair JoonBeom Pae for the photo. To learn more about the Committee, feel free to contact Joon at  [email protected].
