On Nov. 1, the Council of Urban Professionals (CUP) held its 7th annual Lawyers Forum at the Eventi Hotel in midtown Manhattan. During the program, CUP recognized its 2016 class of CUP Catalysts: Change Agents in Law. We are pleased and proud to congratulate past AABANY Board member Steve Chung, Senior VP, NBCUniversal Newsgroup Legal, and current AABANY Board member Sonia Low, General Counsel, The ONE Group Hospitality Inc., as part of that group of excellent attorneys who have achieved extraordinary success in the legal profession while at the same time making a significant impact in their communities.
We also congratulate the other CUP Catalysts in Law for 2016:
- Kermitt Brooks, Deputy General Counsel, AXA US
- Damaris Hernandez, Partner, Cravath, Swaine & Moore (first Latina partner)
- Rossie Turman, Partner, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (African American partner at Skadden but first was promoted 30 years ago)
Secretary of Homeland Defense Jeh Johnson presented inspirational keynote remarks.
Over 200 attendees got to network and catch up before and during the dinner. Congratulations to CUP on another successful Lawyers Forum, and we wish continued success to all the 2016 CUP Catalysts in Law!
