On a rainy Tuesday night in New York City, on November 29, AABANY’s Real Estate Committee, Solo and Small Firm Practice Committee and Asia Practice Committee co-sponsored a CLE program on the Basics of 1031 Exchange and Updates to Title Insurance Clearance at Capital One Bank’s beautiful offices at 299 Park Avenue.
Todd R. Pajonas, Esq. of Legal 1031 Exchange Services, Inc., gave a presentation on IRC 1031 tax deferred exchanges in real estate transactions, followed by Margaret Ling, Co-Chair of the Real Estate Committee, giving an update on title insurance clearance issues at closings, especially with regard to things to watch out for in transactions involving foreign investors.
Despite the weather, the event enjoyed a strong turnout and the attendees received useful, practical information and one CLE credit. Thanks to Hudson One Title Agency for providing attendees with a gavel. They were made from foam, so no injuries occurred from attendees tapping each other on the head with the gavel. Thanks to the speakers, co-sponsoring committees and Capital One Bank for hosting the CLE program. We look forward to future events from these active committees!
