A special robing ceremony was held on the 16th day of February 2017 at 6:30 pm at Kobre & Kim LLP to honor Judge Judy Kim, the first elected Korean American judge in the State of New York.
Over oysters and drinks, attendees gathered to celebrate Judge Judy Kim’s historic achievement. Organized by Bridgette Ahn and Eve Guillergan of KALAGNY, this event celebrated Judge Kim’s individual achievements as well as the importance of diversity on the bench. During the gathering, several judges and bar leaders expressed their admiration to Judge Kim and wished her good luck on the bench. President Susan Shin and President-Elect congratulated Judge Kim on behalf of AABANY.
Judge Kim shared her story of the journey to the bench and expressed her special thanks to minority bar associations including KALAGNY and AABANY. She shared that it takes a village and that she was lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive community of friends and colleagues.
