On October 25, NAAAP (National Association of Asian American Professionals) New York held its first Moon Festival Honoree Gala at Gotham Hall. NAAAP-NY marked the occasion by showcasing and recognizing the achievements of New York’s most accomplished and influential APIAs and to honor the community partners that worked with NAAAP-NY during the year.
Richard Lui, MSNBC anchor, served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
Preet Bharara, US Attorney, SDNY, received the Public Service Award. Alice Young, Special Counsel and Chair of the Asia Pacific Practice at Kaye Scholer (and AABANY member), received the Corporate (Law) Award.
AABANY Executive Director and past president, Yang Chen, received a Community Excellence Award in recognition of AABANY’s partnership with NAAAP-NY in 2013 as well as his contributions to the APIA community in New York.
The proceeds from the evening benefited the NAAAP-NY Scholarship Fund which was instituted over 25 years ago to benefit APIA scholars in the Greater New York Metro Area.
At the event, AABANY was represented by President-Elect Clara Ohr, Immediate Past President Jean Lee, VP of Finance and Development Will Wang, and Real Estate Committee Chair Margaret Ling.
