Hon. Denny Chin of the United States Circuit Court for the Second Circuit presented the remarks at this year’s Citywide Diversity Reception held on July 10 at Cleary Gottlieb.  Speaking to a packed audience of SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) interns, summer associates, lawyers and other attendees, Judge Chin shared his experiences as a judge, regaling those present with accounts of many interesting cases he presided over, including the Bernie Madoff case.  Judge Chin mentioned that after the renovations are done in the Federal courthouse for the Second Circuit, he will be sitting in the chambers once occupied by the legendary Thurgood Marshall.

Judge Chin concluded the presentation sharing his own experiences as an immigrant from Hong Kong who came over to the United States with his family five decades ago.  Judge Chin emphasized the importance of remaining close to the community in performing one’s professional duties.
