On July 11, 2011, the Commercial Bankruptcy/Restructuring Committee and Intellectual Property Committee co-hosted an Intellectual Property Issues in Bankruptcy CLE. The CLE featured Alan Halperin of Halperin Battaglia Raicht, LLP, Michael Lynch of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP and Daniel Lowenthal of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP. Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP graciously hosted the event and Commercial Bankruptcy/Restructuring Committee Co-Chair Vincent Roldan moderated the CLE.
The panelists provided a general introduction to intellectual property, background information on executory contracts, and the interplay between Section 365 of the Bankruptcy Code and intellectual property agreements. Practical considerations for drafting intellectual property license agreements were also discussed.
