On March 14, Immigration and Nationality Law Committee Co-Chair Rio Guerrero and past AABANY Vice President Steven De Castro were invited to the White House to attend a briefing for Filipino American leaders, organized by the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI).  This was Rio’s second trip to D.C. in a week, following his recent meeting with HHS to advocate for Temporary Protected Status to protect Filipino nationals from deportation from the United States.  Steve attended on behalf of Kalusugan Coalition, a Filipino Queens health organization, to report on local experiences with the Affordable Care Act and to advocate for more federal support for community health workers.
